One part occurs as so called "home scrap" during steel production. Further scrap grades are production residues of the steel-processing industry. This grade is called "new scrap".

"Old scrap" originates from non-serviceable products such as disused machines, systems, household appliances, etc. This scrap grade represents the biggest part of the scrap appearance.
